$100 Olive Garden Gift Card Giveaway & Review

February 21, 2012 by kim 221 Comments

I ventured out to Olive Garden to try their new $12.95 dinner special a couple of days ago. I say the word “venture” because the closest Olive Garden to me is 20 miles away.

When we got there we noticed people were overflowing outside of the main entrance, and the parking lot was completely full. The estimated wait time for us was an hour and a half. As incredibly crowded as it was, the hostess greeted us with a smile and let us know that we were welcome to sit in the bar area for a full-service menu since it was on a first come first served basis (meaning we wouldn’t have to wait as long for a table if we didn’t mind sitting at the bar). We gladly took a table in the bar area within a matter of seconds.

As I looked around, I saw families and people of all ages dining together. Friends were meeting up for drinks, kids were laughing while running around one another, and grandparents sat patiently waiting for a table. The bartender quickly approached us and was happy to serve us even though we weren’t planning on ordering any alcoholic beverages. I ordered the 3 Course Italian Dinner for $12.95 with the garden fresh salad, Creamy Parmesan Portobello Mushroom Fettuccine, and Dark Chocolate Cake for dessert–not to mention the never-ending breadsticks that come with your meal.

They have quite an extensive menu, so check out Olivegarden.com to check it out and find a restaurant near you.

My salad was enough for two and my entree was delicious and filling; I even had enough leftover to eat for lunch the next day! The waitress packed my leftovers in a microwavable container and put extra breadsticks to-go in an oven-heating bag. How easy can they make my life?

For dessert, the bartender gave me both the chocolate cake and strawberry cream cake for to try, even though I ordered just one. Now THAT’S what I call great service! The smaller portion was perfect after a huge meal.

Overall, the dinner special has plenty of options to choose from-whether you want soup or a salad, vegetables or meat, and chocolate or vanilla. It can be accommodated to everyone’s tastes. Want to see all the delicious options available with Olive Garden’s 3 Course Italian Dinner? Just visit Olivegarden.com/specials.

Not only is your meal customizable, but it’s affordable as well. At most other restaurants, the entree alone would cost you around $15. At Olive Garden, you get an appetizer, main meal, AND dessert for less!
Now, it’s your turn to go out and try Olive Garden’s $12.95 3 Course Italian Dinner special, it’s going on through 3/18! I’m going to be giving a $100 Olive Garden gift card to one lucky reader, courtesy of Olive Garden and BlogHer. To be entered for a chance to win, just leave me a comment telling me if you prefer the entree or the dessert!

Review: CoverGirl Lash Perfection Mascara & a Giveaway

October 4, 2011 by kim 74 Comments

I was given COVERGIRL‘s LashPerfection™ mascara earlier this week to try out. Well, truth be told is that I don’t know anything about makeup. I’m completely lost in that department. Usually, my dearest little sister does my make up/hair whenever I have something important to go to. Since I moved out, I figured 24 years old was about a good time as any to learn how to put on make up. Maybe.

I’m usually more of a “put on a little eyeliner and I’m good out the door” kind of girl. Eyeshadow? Useless. Cover up? I don’t even know what category my skin would fall under. So when I got an offer to try Cover Girl‘s Lash Perfection Mascara, I figured I had someplace to start.

Not that I have anything against make up… I don’t. It definitely gives you a boost of self esteem and even gives you the feeling of “rolling out the red carpet” if you don’t wear it that often. Make up, with the help of my sister, has the ability to transform you and give you the confidence that you need for that big day.

What big day am I talking about? Wedding day, meeting significant other’s family, birthday parties, a night out, or in my case… interviews. Sure, looks aren’t everything, but first impressions are important!

This mascara had a large, easy to maneuver brush. It went on smoothly and remained clump free despite how many times I brushed over my eyelashes (yes, I did that just to test it out). The only complaint I have is that it kind of sticks throughout the day. Overall? The product is unbeatable for the price range.

While we’re on the subject of make-up and looking great, you might want to check out the Looking Your Best posts in the Life Well Lived section of BlogHer.com. There are some great application tips and ideas for switching up your look for fall! You can also check out other reviews here.

Want a chance to win a $50 gift card to drugstore.com? In the comments, tell me about a time when using makeup gave you the added confidence you needed for an important event in your life.

Food Review: King’s Burgers

April 21, 2011 by kim 3 Comments

When we’re trying to decide what to eat, King’s is always an option. It’s nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. It has something for everyone– whether it be sushi, burgers, sandwiches, or shakes. I always get a chicken terriyaki bowl with california rolls and the DB always gets a sandwich. What can I say, we like to stick to tradition.

Mine:: it also has fried onion strips in to top it off!

Last time we came here, we ran into Brian McKnight. So you never know who you’re going to run into! Sure the place is a bit run down, but it’s homey, the food is delish, and the service is awesome.

Tip: Ask for some ranch to dip your fries into.. they have the perfect ranch!

P.S. Typing on a French keyboard is a lot harder than I thought it would be. If only I could pluck out and rearrange some letters….
