Festive Finds: Featuring Nespresso & Sur La Table

November 13, 2014 by kim 6 Comments

For the upcoming holiday season, I’ve teamed up with Nespresso and Sur La Table to create a preview of my “Festive Finds!” The wonderful folks sent me on my own personal shopping experience, where I got to visit the Nespresso boutique in Beverly Hills for lunch before heading over to shop at Sur La Table in the Farmers Market, Los Angeles.

I had no idea that Nespresso had boutiques where you can actually order food and coffee at! All that I’ve ever seen are the little shops in departments stores where you can sample and purchase their machines.

We ordered a quick bite to eat (which ended up being a lot more food than I imagined!). I ordered the club sandwich with the special drink for the month of October. It was called the Caramelo and had salted caramel ice cream, milk, caramel, cinnamon, and Voltesso Grand Cru.

My DH ordered the prosciutto panini and an iced dulce de leche drink.

When we couldn’t possibly eat any more, we went over to Sur La Table, where I fell in love with just about everything in the store. I also bored my DH since I spent so long roaming the aisles figuring out what to spend my gift cards on.

Gosh, how I wish my pantry looked like that picture above. I. would. die. Hey, a girl can dream.

What did I end up walking away with? Well, I’ll show you!

I’m one happy camper! Let’s break it down.
FotoFlexer_Photo

  1. White Colander Ornament // Have you seen Sur La Table’s ornament collection? They’re the best stocking stuffers for the chef, baker, and foodie in your family! They’re unique and beautifully crafted.
  2. Vintage Inspired Pot Holders // This one just happens to be on sale (score!). They also have matching oven mitts to go with them. White elephant gift, anyone?
  3. Bamboo Chopsticks, Set of 5 // I’ve had a hard time finding a decent set of chopsticks. My DH and I prefer them over forks when it comes to eating soups and noodles, so it’s about time I found a set for our home.
  4. Nespresso VertuoLine with Aeroccino Plus // This machine has replaced the Keurig in our household because it makes both coffee and espresso! Only one machine needed. Limited counter space in our kitchen means we’re highly selective of what we leave out. The VertuoLine has a barcode reading technology that allows each cup to be personalized by knowing its size, water temperature, rotational speed, and more! It’s available in red, black, and chrome. My favorite part is that it’s topped with crema! You an also just buy the Aeroccino Plus by itself here.
  5. Meri Meri Blue and Green Toot Sweet Bake Cup Set // Sur La Table’s baking aisle is spot on. They have a cookie cutter for every occasion, more mason jars than you could imagine, and whimsical cupcake liners to match any party theme. These would be great for adding to a gift basket.
  6. Le Creuset Signature Rosemary 10-Piece Set // I’ve been dreaming about Le Creuset pans for as long as I’ve been creating concoctions in the kitchen. Sur La Table carries their pots and pans in a variety of colors, but I’m a sucker for that soft green.
  7. Ice Cream Cone Bowl // What do you get for the person that has everything? Ice cream bowls!

I also bought E. Guittard Semisweet chocolate wafers (who doesn’t need more chocolate to bake with during the holidays?), a Le Creuset super-size silicone spatula (it’s GLITTERY!), Ikat Napkins, and Nespresso glass cups.

All in all, you can definitely find a gift for anyone and everyone at Sur La Table. They’re the one stop destination for your shopping needs this holiday season.

This is a sponsored post, but the opinions expressed are my own.

My Must Have Kitchen List Part 2: Things You Don’t Really Need

August 4, 2014 by kim 165 Comments

Since my last “must-have” kitchen list, I’ve been putting together a list of things that you don’t really need, but want for the kitchen. We all know that everyone has that list, too.

OXO Good Grips Small Cookie Scoop:: The key to making perfectly uniform cookies. It’s great to own at least one, but they do come in a variety of sizes depending on how big you want your cookies to turn out. Note: these aren’t meant for frozen cookies or cookies that have been refrigerated for long.

OXO Good Grips Multi-Purpose Pastry Scraper/Chopper:: This device comes in handy when you are making scones or working with dough a lot. It’s a great measuring tool as well.

Microplane 40020 Classic Zester/Grater:: I LOVE my zester. I use it all the time for lemons. I hate eating lemon desserts, but I have no problem making them for everyone else to eat!

EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale, Silver:: When you’re using recipes that aren’t from the states, a kitchen scale comes in handy! Actually, it always comes in handy when you’re trying to make those perfect cookies or cake.

Crock-Pot SCCPVL610-S 6-Quart Programmable Cook & Carry Oval Slow Cooker, Stainless Steel:: Okay, this is more of something that you really DO need, but since it wasn’t on my first list, I’ve included it on this one.

Wilton 2104-7778 Master Tip Set:: You need this in order to decorate cupcakes like a pro!

Cupcake Courier 36-Cupcake Plastic Storage Container, White Translucent:: Of course, you have to carry those pro-looking cupcakes around somehow. I use this carrier if my cupcakes are on the larger side and if I have a lot to carry.

Snapware 6032 Large 2 Layer-Cupcake Keeper:: This case is smaller than the one above, but just as sturdy and versatile. I can carry cookies and smaller items if I only want to take one layer instead of two.

Nordic Ware Leakproof Springform Pan, 10 Cup, 9 Inch:: Springform pans are great if you’re really into baking. Cheesecakes come out with ease and you don’t have to worry about taking everything out in one piece.

Nordic Ware Original Platinum Collection Bundt Pan:: All you need in your kitchen is ONE good bundt pan. Just one. You can use it over and over again for different kinds of bundt pan recipes and they’ll all come out perfectly shaped.

Wilton 4-Tier Stacked Cupcake and Dessert Tower:: Last but not least, a display for your baked goods. When you have guests over, you’ll want to show off your hard work, right?

When I’m doing my shopping for all of these items, I make sure to use my American Express card because of all the great offers that the card provides. For example, the Amex Offers are created especially for me depending on my area and my shopping history. It immediately allows me to save more money by simply shopping at the stores I already love. There are no coupons to clip or codes to remember, you just log on to AmexOffers.com and get the discounts right in the account dashboard. All I have to do is click on “Save Offer” to save the offer to my Card.  If you’re tech savvy, you can also connect your Amex Card to social networks like Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter and TripAdvisor to add offers to your Card right in those places. Once that’s done, just spend away like normal and the savings will show up on your statement as credits. So far, Card Members have saved over $90 million with Amex Offers, so go ahead and give it a shot! Here are some of my favorite current offers right now:

  • Whole Foods– Spend $75, get $10 back from 7/21/14-9/30/14
  • Gelson’s– Spend $50, get $10 back from 7/21/14-9/21/14
  • Dollar Tree– Spend $101, get $20 back from 7/21/14-9/2/14

Happy New Year!

January 1, 2014 by kim 2 Comments

Happy New Year, fellow blogosphere! I took a teeny weeny break from blogging after my 12 days of cookies and I’m not one bit sorry about it. I got to spend time with my family and friends while baking my little heart away. I hope you guys had a wonderful and safe holiday season! Here are some pictures of my usual Christmas baking. Once you start with the cookies, everyone expects them year after year. I guess that’s how traditions start and I don’t mind it one bit! This year, I made oatmeal toffee, chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, andes mint, and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies (the two cookies without a link will be on the blog later this year!).

I’m excited for 2014– There’s so much to look forward to! Moving back to LA, a wedding, a honeymoon, DF graduates, DF takes the bar, older sister’s wedding… we just started the year and our schedule is already jam packed! Before we get too ahead of ourselves, let’s do a recap of 2013:

  • I got to work with some AMAZING brands through my blog this year. Some of them include: Betty Crocker, Chinet, Eagle Brand, The Pampered Chef, Pillsbury, Peeps, Grandma’s Molasses, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, and Rodelle (just to name a few)! I am so grateful for every opportunity that I’ve been given am truly blessed to have worked with such wonderful companies. THANK YOU!
  • I had my very first blogger trip, thanks to Medjool Dates. I couldn’t have asked for a better mid-week getaway. The group of bloggers that they brought together and everyone involved touched my heart in a way that I couldn’t have even imagined. I’ve never had a deeper appreciation for the blogging world and the date farming industry as I did in September.
  • Not only did I have my very first blogger trip in 2013, but I also had my second. I got to attend the Pillsbury Bake-Off in Las Vegas thanks to Smuckers! I got to see the Bake-Off up close and personal while being behind the scenes. I’ve never marveled at an event quite like I did there. This was a very humbling experience for me and I couldn’t believe that I was lucky enough to be a part of it all.
  • My DF and I traveled internationally together for the first time to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I learned that traveling with him is pretty much like traveling with a child. I have to keep all of his papers/passport in order or he’ll lose it, but it’s extremely handy traveling with someone that speaks Spanish. We got to parasail for the first time and also realized secluded vacations are not for us. We like to be on our feet and explore, not be stuck on an island.. no matter how nice it is!
  • Speaking of my DF, we got engaged and took some engagement photos! I guess that’s kind of a big one.
  • I entered my very first contest and….. WON! That’s right folks, I won a trip to London from the Mystery Ingredient Blogger Showcase . I may not have won when they announced the winners, but after some investigating and technical glitches that occurred through the voting process, they ended up awarding two grand prizes. Thank you so much for all of your help voting and spreading the news for my Macaroni and Cheese recipe. I truly couldn’t have done it without you. Now my DF has an awesome graduation present! Also, that will definitely be my last voting contest that I enter. I felt like such a spammer during the voting period. Sorry I spammed you guys so much!!
  • I purchased my wedding dress… more on that whole process later. 🙂
  • I experienced my first mani/pedi in my whole 26 years of living! Thank you Smuckers for again, spoiling me on my blogger trip.

All in all, I couldn’t have done this without my readers. Thank you so much for your continued support throughout the year and for following along on this little ol’ blog of mine. I appreciate each and everyone one of you!

xoxo, kim
