LA County Fair 2015

Who’s excited about the 93rd edition of the LA County Fair? It kicks off tomorrow and lasts throughout this month of September! I’m waiting for my DH to heal a little bit more from surgery before we head to Pomona to explore this year’s fair, but don’t worry, we’ll definitely be going! I’ll be posting all about it on my Instagram.

The folks over at the LA County Fair sent me the most adorable package in the mail last week to get me pumped up. Just looking at the colorful box was fun enough for me.

But of course, they one upped everyone. The moment I opened the top flap of the box, a balloon floated out to the ceiling! Seriously, who thinks of these things? Brilliant!IMG_7875

Some things to look forward to this year include:

“New this year is Popnology, a hands-on destination attraction making its world premiere at the LA County Fair. Among the 33,000-square-foot  exhibition are the coolest tech and science gadgets influenced by popular culture, ranging from the Batmobile, Hal 9000 computer from “2001: A Space Odyssey” and Oculus Rift virtual reality technology to R2D2 from “Star Wars” and the famous DeLorean from “Back to the Future.”

Back by popular demand is the larger-than-life Luminasia handcrafted lantern display, expanded for its second and final year at the LACF. Once again, visitors can stroll through massive, animated colorful replicas of iconic L.A. landmarks and never-before-seen images.”

There will also be plenty of rides, music, animals, entertainment, and my most favorite part…. FOOD! There are “more than 1,200 deep-fried, on-a-stick, ooey, gooey, barbecued, dipped-in-chocolate and just plain delicious menu options.” Some of those include Bacon-Wrapped Chicken and Waffles, Deep-Fried Guacamole and Spicy Peanut Butter & Jelly Burger made with Sriracha sauce. My pregnant belly cannot wait!

Make sure to visit www.lacf.com for admission, hours and more information. For general information, you can also call (909) 623-3111.

I look forward to seeing you guys there!

The American Kitchen

April 1, 2015 by kim 140 Comments

I lust over kitchens all day long online. I look at pictures on Instagram, home blogs, and especially Pinterest. I keep hoping to myself that one day, I’ll be able to create my very own American Kitchen. It seems as if that day might be a while for my DH and me, but hey, a girl can dream. Everyone has their own idea of an American Kitchen, but mine would definitely be functional and sleek. I want it to be clean with splashes of color, inviting to the eye, and up to date with the most modern appliances. GE Appliances creates products that suit everyone’s dream, whether they want something more vintage looking or something more industrial.  Since 1905, they have understood that creating a kitchen is about customization because no two families are the same. They’ve been doing this for 110 years, so must be doing it right! The kitchen is the heart of the home. I spend most of my time in there, so I want it to be as comfortable as possible. That’s actually why I’m considering moving in May when our lease is up. I need a bigger kitchen! Our current kitchen is teeny and I just can’t deal with it anymore. I’m running out of counter space and I dream of having an open layout, where I can be included with our guests while preparing food at the same time. I would rather live in a place where the kitchen takes up the entire downstairs. How fabulous would that be? There is a documentary series called Our American Kitchen that explores how real GE Appliance owners are living their lives. What common themes are found in the kitchen that we all want? Are there a lot of differences between the needs in a kitchen? How do families vary with their kitchen space? People use their kitchens for all sorts of things, from work to leisure. Some use it to escape from their troubles (That’s me! My kitchen is my stress reliever!), while others use the kitchen to bring their family closer together through sharing recipes and meals. You can check out the documentary here.  I’m pretty sure we can all agree when I say that there is no “home” without a kitchen. What role does the kitchen play in your home? In case you can’t find a post…

December 9, 2014 by kim Leave a Comment

Hi lovely readers!!

I just wanted to make a note since I’ve been getting a ton of emails recently about pages not being found. Not to worry! They’re still there! You can always use the “search” function on the upper right hand side of my blog to find the recipe you’re looking for. I’ve been working on optimizing my site so that it’ll run faster, which is why the long links are no longer working. Sorry for all of the confusion! If you’re still having trouble, feel free to email me at: kim@lovintheoven.com and I’ll try my best to find it for you!

xx,
kim
