Food Review: Maria’s Italian Kitchen

November 19, 2010 by kim 7 Comments

My DB swears that he took me to this place before, but this was my first time eating here. The place is small and cute, perfect for a date. They have an outside patio area along with booths and tables on the inside.

They give you focaccia bread as an appetizer. Yum!

DB’s dish: whole wheat penne pasta with spicy marinara.

Mine: side caesar salad.

The place is a little overpriced and the food was okay. I tried a bite of my DB’s pasta and wasn’t very impressed. The salad was pretty standard and the service was no bueno. Our waitress acted like a “know it all” and didn’t really want to listen to us. Oh well, it happens sometimes. On the plus side, the focaccia bread is great and never ending!

kranberrie- nope, not vegetarian. it’s just that sometimes i crave vegetables rather than meat. with my DB eating only meat and no veggies, i rarely get to eat them! plus, with the amount of time that my DB and i eat out (probably 4-5 times a week), you don’t really want to eat so heavy all the time. what can i say, i LOVE my salads and could even go to say i’d eat a caesar salad every day (plus, it’s cheap! haha).

If you ever happen to try it again, get the Veggie Lasagna and it will totally change your opinion for the better! It’s a little salty, but it’s AMAZING. 🙂
