My favorite kind of food is definitely Japanese food. I could eat sushi everyday. When I’m not having sushi, you can find me at the teppan table (very rarely though since it does get quite pricy). Lucky for me, there’s a teppan restaurant right down the street from me. Ken of Japan.
Teppan starts off with a salad with Japanese dressing and miso soup.
Mine: Chicken– served with sauteed vegetables, shrimp, bean sprouts, and steamed rice.
DB’s: Chicken & Steak combo.
You can get fried rice for a little more (and it’s delicious!), but I opted for simple steamed rice this time. I buy coupons from restaurant.com for this place so the bill isn’t too bad. I don’t think there’s a bad teppan place. How can you do it wrong? People are watching you as you cook… you better not mess up!
Everything is wonderful about this place. Sure, the restaurant itself is a little run down and could use a facelift, but that doesn’t affect the food. Rice is sticky, the meat is cooked how you want it, the waiters and cooks are all very friendly, and the flavor is up to par. What more could you ask for? They also give you a ginger and mustard dipping sauce that I usually avoid. My DB slurps up the ginger sauce like it’s chocolate milk, though. Blechh.
