A Christmas Gift Basket

December 22, 2010 by kim 13 Comments

Let’s take a break from the 12 days of cookies for a second. Just one quick second, I promise!

I was asked to put together a Christmas gift basket recently and had no rules. I love when I have the freedom to do as I please! A little stroll around Michael’s gave me the inspiration I needed. My theme was going to be snowmen!

Let’s break it down, shall we?

I stuffed this tin with snickerdoodles.

How cute is this canister? Seriously dying of cuteness.

It breaks down to three separate canisters.

I filled the bottom two with pecan sandies (sneak peak to the end of my 12 days of cookies!).

and the top hat is filled with cinnamon sugar roasted pecans.

Then I decorated a bakery bag and filled it with good ol’ chocolate chip cookies.

I also spiced up a regular white bakery box with decorative holiday tape on the sides. It transforms it into a completely festive box! (It’s not filled yet in the picture because I was waiting for the triple chocolate brownies to cool before cutting into them).

Excuse the mess in the background; I take over the kitchen when I bake. I added extra bags of roasted nuts after this picture and a mini card explaining what was included in the basket. Oh hey, the brownies are in this picture!

Bag it up.

And a little itty baby stocking to top it all off.

Now isn’t that just the sweetest thing you’ve ever seen? Haha. I sure hope the recipient enjoys it!

Baby Shower Cupcakes

June 6, 2010 by kim 19 Comments

A friend of mine asked me to make some baby shower cupcakes, 60 to be exact. She gave me complete freedom with what to do and what flavors to make. The only things she told me were: 1. the colors were red and yellow with a splash of pink and 2. the theme was roses. Here’s what I came up with:

I molded some chocolate roses to add on top of the frosting. I made a couple different cupcakes, Brooklyn Blackout (pretty much a darker devil’s), tie-dye, Cookies n’ Cream, Cinnamon Toast, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. The frostings I made were dark chocolate buttercream, vanilla buttercream, cookie dough, and cinnamon cream cheese frosting. I’ll be posting each one individually this week, so keep a lookout for them!

I packed all of the cupcakes into these boxes lined in wax paper and drove off to deliver them. They all traveled so well! What a relief!

My Second Diaper Cake

May 1, 2010 by kim 5 Comments

I’m actually on my way out to a baby shower and put this together for the gift. This is my second diaper cake that I’ve ever done (you can find my first one HERE) and it definitely won’t be my last! This time, I added a baby blanket and onesies to the mix rather than just using baby bottles as the core. I used a box of 96, size 1, diapers. They’re such tiny diapers compared to the ones that I use for the kids I nanny! I forget how fast babies grow.

I can honestly spend hours looking at baby clothes and accessories. They just have the cutest things! Little socks, little onesies, cute bubbly characters.. I’m in pure heaven when I’m baby shopping. Now, don’t get any ideas.. I’m not planning on having a baby anytime soon! I’m content just shopping for other people’s babies for now. 🙂
