Sorry I’ve been so boring lately. Unfortunately, I’ll be boring until the end of this month because my attention is elsewhere. Study, study, study!

Yes, you guessed it… another chocolate chip cookie. I saw this popping up all over Pinterest claiming to be the best chocolate chip cookies, so I had to test it out. Corn starch in cookies? I wonder what that does..

Let me tell you, it doesn’t make anything better. If anything, it dries out the batter! They were extremely cakey (not the kind of texture I’m going for) and nothing special. But hey, I guess my favorite kind of cookie isn’t everyone’s! Recipe from Apple a Day.

I have to say, I make this recipe ALL THE TIME. And it makes the softest, chewiest cookies ever. People always ask for this recipe when I make them for others. I don’t find them cakey at all. I am not sure why your experience was so different.

Yours look over baked. I tried this recipe from pinterest and it says to not over bake. I thought they were pretty good, I’ve made them twice.

In the past few months this has become my go-to recipe since the cornstarch makes them extra chewy, just how we like them! Sorry yours didn’t turn out well.

I would think it would dry out the cookie too! Although it’s never fun to have a disappointing cookie I am so glad you posted this to warn us becasue I have seen it floating around too.

I hope the dough was at least good to nibble on.

I have to try these. I use cornstarch to make an old-world cookie that we like very much. Your “chippers” sound delicious. This is my first visit to your site, but I’ll be back. I really like the food and recipes you share with your readers and I enjoyed the time I spent here. I hope you have a great day. Blessings…Mary

I have made these cookies twice and they do not taste cakey or dried out at all to me. Yours turned out much flatter and look much darker than mine, however.

Remember to only bake them 8 minutes and then let them sit on the pan (out of the oven) for about 5 minutes to finish cooking. They will look underdone when you take them out of the oven.

I have made this recipe several times and it is wonderful- it is my new favorite! Soft, chewy and not dry at all.

I’ve used this recipe twice now and both times they came out perfect – chewy, yet crisp around the edge, and fluffy. Corn starch makes all the difference! Am baffled by your experience, other than you’ve left them in the oven too long. The recipe does insist 8-10 mins, no more. Perhaps worth another try?
