This is a going to be a quick post since I’m currently on a trip and really should be sleeping right now, but I had the need to blog. Don’t you just love when that happens? I’m missing sleep to talk to myself. That’s probably not normal, but who am I to say what’s normal or not.
This recipe from How Sweet Eats is a dessert in a crockpot. Winner! Can you tell how much I love my crockpot? I use it for everything. I should probably keep more crockpots around so that I can have them all going at the same time. Instead of being the crazy cat lady, I’ll be the crazy crockpot lady.
It’s a tad bit on the sweet side, but that wasn’t a problem for me. You can also choose to peel your apple prior to throwing them in the crockpot, but that was too much work for me so I left the skin on. Serve it with some vanilla bean ice cream and you’ve got yourself heaven in a bowl.
Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 5 large apples, cut into chunks
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2/3 cup oats
- 2/3 cup loosely packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3-4 tablespoons softened butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
- Mix both sugars and spread at the bottom of your crockpot.
- Toss your apples with the salt and cinnamon, then throw them on top of the sugar in a single layer.
- Mix your crumble topping ingredients until it comes together. Evenly sprinkle it over top of the apples. Cook on low for 4 hours, or high for 2 hours.
- Turn off heat, unplug, and let sit, covered, for one hour to let the caramel thicken.

I saw this and immediately said “YES!”. I could always use another reason to use the crock pot, and for caramel apple crisp?? Can’t wait!

I have never tried anything like this but I have to say….I’m intrigued! Will definitely give it a try. Beautiful pictures as always!

of course like your web-site howaever you have to take a look at the spelling on quite a few of
your posts. Several off them are rife with splling problems and I in finding it very troublesome to
inform the reality however I’ll definitely come back
again.

This really sounds good, but I would like to know what size crockpot was used. There are at least three sizes I know of. If I were to guess I think this recipe was made in a four quart crockpot.
