I procrastinate from my homework the best when I’m baking. Seriously. Instead of writing a 1000 word paper, I browse through my bookmarks on my computer and decide what I want to bake. After figuring out my next culinary mission, I get right to it and start mixing my little heart away. Once everything is set and cooled, I figure, “Well… I already have all my materials out, why not bake something else?” This is where the process starts all over again; It’s like a never-ending circle of baking that will, in turn, doom my academic career.
Ingredients
- 1 stick softened butter
- 6 Tablespoons sugar
- 6 Tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 ¼ cup flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 11 broken pieces Oreo Cookies
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.Cream butter, and sugars until well combined.Add egg and vanilla until mixed well.
- Place flour, baking soda and salt into a large bowl, stir to combine.Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients then stir in oreos and chocolate chips until just combined.
- With a medium cookie scoop, scoop onto baking sheet.Bake for 10 minutes or until cooked, but still soft.Let cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.

Rachelle @ "Mommy? I'm Hungry!" says
Oh yUm! These sounds amazing, I’m going to have to mark these to make, unless the oreos get eaten first!
I love the idea of a cookie mailing list! I’d love to know more about it. I’ll email ya!

I’m the same way! These days I have definitive spurts. Yesterday, for example, I made lemon curd, blueberry cupcakes with lemon zest, and then whipped together some pizza dough on top of making dinner for myself. I spend my “days” of research looking up recipes for later. It’s terrible and my lovehandles hate it! I love the idea of a cookie mailing. I wish this poor med student could afford it! Btw these cookies look genius.
Sandy says
Those sound delicious! Totally making those as soon as my cookie jar is empty!! Thanks!
Sarah B @ Bake + Bike says
Cookie-within-a-cookie! I love it!
I’m rather sad I can’t partake in your cookie mailing list (I live in Canada). If you ever start shipping to your northern neighbours, I would be suuuuper excited!! I totally understand why it’s not that practical, though.
Joanne says
You and I are so alike it’s crazy. I swear, the day before an exam, I always feel the need to bake both a loaf of bread and a cake. It’s insane. And will lead to my demise. But eh, what can you do.
Your idea to start a cookie mailing list is awesome! What a great way to make money. If you’re going to be bakign anyway, might as well!
These cookies are amazing!

I remember asking you over FB a while back if you were doing your mailing list ever again, I gotta say.. as soon as I realized you were doing it again, I was effing STOKED!! I use a lot of your recipes and so you have no idea how amazing it is that I have a chance to eat them, baked by the infamous baker queen hahaha.
I don’t know how you would like to set up payments, if I should send out some $$ every month or if there’s a way to just automate it haha, or if you prefer it all in advance, just let me know! <333

This recipe rocks! I visited my friend at Penn State this weekend and made these for her! I used Newmans Own Mint Oreos instead of normal ones.. made these awesome cookies incredible! They were a hit!
Marie says
I made this today. It tasted really good. I love the Oreos. But mine turned out flat. My oven decided to be stupid today and the temp was much lower than it should be. It was still good though.

I stumbled upon your blog, found this recipe, and immediately made these cookies…. but with a twist. I used peanut butter oreos and added about 2 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter! Awesome! Thanks for the recipe 🙂

Hey, i’m from nz, and we don’t have sticks of butter here.. how many grams is a stick of butter?
Jean McLaughlin says
When looking at a standard stick of butter: 1 stick or 1/2 cup butter is equal to 4 ounces, or 113 grams.
Michael says
I made these last night and they came out great! And they’re even better cold out of the fridge on day 2!

First off, I would like to say how similar we are that we both procrastinate so much when we think up recipes. I do this all the time when I just can’t pay attention in biology. Second, your blog is beautiful and the pictures you take are absolutely perfect. And third, I used this recipe on my blog but instead of using chocolate chips, I substituted white chocolate chips and I added oreo instant pudding mix to the batter and my best friend and boyfriend swear by those cookies. Thank you for the inspiration and such a great recipe!!!

I finally got around to trying these cookies this past weekend and we loved them they are gorgeous.

I made these today. I expected the cookies to be dark like your pictures. Unfortunately they looked like normal chocolate chip cookies. The only difference was that they had Oreo pieces inside of them. How did you make yours dark? I followed the recipe and crushed 11 Oreos into small pieces.
Stephanie says
I just made these for my husband to take to a potluck at work. They are delicious! 🙂

They didn’t turn out small and white colored like yours did. But i still think they tasted good.
I wonder why they didn’t turn out like yours. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.

These were THE greatest cookies I have ever baked. My first round of cookies were too dark so I only put them in for 7 minutes instead of 10 (It is probably because of my oven).

All I have to say is ‘WOW’ but not solely because of the recipe, but because of your first sentence I procrastinate from my homework the best when I’m baking.’ This is 100% me I do exactly the same thing! My love for baking began because of my hate for writing papers. I now find baking relaxing and whenever I’m stress I turn to my bookmarks. Thanks for adding one to my list! Happy Procrastination Baking!

I live in an all-girl dormitory, and when we found this recipe we had this crazy baking party and all probably gained 10 pounds! Thank you so much for the recipe; we all had so much fun with it, and we all agreed they were even better than the favorite local bakery that we like to spend all of our money at.

Looking forward to trying these. Does it call for self rising flour or all purpose & how many does this recipe make?

all purpose flour and it makes about 1 1/2 dozen cookies

From the photo, it’s clear you’re not actually eating all of these baked goods…unless you’re among the super-lucky with lightning fast metabolisms. Question: where did you get that bathing suit? It’s adorable and I’ve been looking for one exactly like it for years.
kim nguyen says
Lol I always try and give my baked goods away! There’s always somebody that’ll eat them. 🙂 I got the bathing suit from Victoria’s Secret a couple of months ago

How many does this recipe yield? It seems like from reading it would only make a few… O.o

After making double batches of these three times, I felt you should know these are the absolute best cookies my husband and I have ever had! We’re a young couple so my cooking experience isn’t vast (the poor guy has suffered through many not-quite-awesome cookies), but these were perfect all three times. they came out a little dry, which made them excellent for dunking in coffee or tea.
our budget is limited and things like oreos are luxuries, so we substituted 1/3 cup of cocoa for them instead. i figured 1/3 cup is about how much cookie dust you’d get from grinding 22 oreos (double batch) in a mortar. The first time I swirled the cocoa in last, the next two I mixed it in with the dry ingredients. Both tasted equally great.
I’d definitely recommend cocoa to anyone else finding themselves without oreos for one reason or another.
