Review: CoverGirl Lash Perfection Mascara & a Giveaway

October 4, 2011 by kim 74 Comments

I was given COVERGIRL‘s LashPerfection™ mascara earlier this week to try out. Well, truth be told is that I don’t know anything about makeup. I’m completely lost in that department. Usually, my dearest little sister does my make up/hair whenever I have something important to go to. Since I moved out, I figured 24 years old was about a good time as any to learn how to put on make up. Maybe.

I’m usually more of a “put on a little eyeliner and I’m good out the door” kind of girl. Eyeshadow? Useless. Cover up? I don’t even know what category my skin would fall under. So when I got an offer to try Cover Girl‘s Lash Perfection Mascara, I figured I had someplace to start.

covergirl

Not that I have anything against make up… I don’t. It definitely gives you a boost of self esteem and even gives you the feeling of “rolling out the red carpet” if you don’t wear it that often. Make up, with the help of my sister, has the ability to transform you and give you the confidence that you need for that big day.

What big day am I talking about? Wedding day, meeting significant other’s family, birthday parties, a night out, or in my case… interviews. Sure, looks aren’t everything, but first impressions are important!

This mascara had a large, easy to maneuver brush. It went on smoothly and remained clump free despite how many times I brushed over my eyelashes (yes, I did that just to test it out). The only complaint I have is that it kind of sticks throughout the day. Overall? The product is unbeatable for the price range.

While we’re on the subject of make-up and looking great, you might want to check out the Looking Your Best posts in the Life Well Lived section of BlogHer.com. There are some great application tips and ideas for switching up your look for fall! You can also check out other reviews here.

Like you, I’m not a big makeup person. I’m always afraid of poking myself in the eye with an applicator or something.
Recently, I decided to give it a try using some sample makeup that I received – some mineral foundation, eyeshadow, mascara & lipstick.
After a few attempts, I was finally happy with the end result and walked out of the house feeling like a million bucks. Now, I get a little more adventurous with color each time I try, but know I have classic looks I can always go back to 🙂

Oh! I think it just lost my comment! I hope this doesn’t post twice!

Well, I used to just wear makeup for parties and job interviews, but lately I’ve figured that if it makes you feel pretty for special occasions, why not feel special every day?

I used to be afraid of makeup because I thought that I was too plain of a person for things like lipstick and eye shadow. One day, the lovely woman at the makeup counter showed me some colors and tones that looked nice against my fair skin, and I was so amazed at how professional and put-together it made me feel. It’s nice to have the confidence to experiment with makeup.

I’m like you – not only do I rarely wear makeup, I also have very little idea of what to do with it when I have it. For my cousin’s wedding, I was a bridesmaid and we all got professional makeup done the day of. This was 4 years ago now, but pictures from that day remain my favorite pictures of myself – I felt so confident that day!

I just recently moved from Hawaii to New York, and wasn’t a huge makeup person. Wearing makeup to the slew of job interviews I had definitely made a difference. Felt put together and on top of my game! ;D

Ooh I’d love to win –

I like to have fun experimenting with makeup… it’s just a matter of

“do I have enough time to finish the other side of my face before the baby starts vying for my attention again?”

    Oh baby.

I am a heavy girl so when I go out, I feel out of place with all my friends who aren’t heavy and look great in their clothes. The only thing that makes me pretty is when I have my face in makeup. I usually just put on eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara. But that is enough confidence to give me.

During high school, I would never wear any makeup because I really didn’t feel the need. I really didn’t know where I fit it until the end of senior year. I didn’t have a whole llot of confidence. Then I started to experiment with eyeshadow with all the colors it offered. I’m glad I did because I always though my eyes were my best feature and I had found a way to show them off and feel more confident.

I’m not a make up person and usually don’t wear any or have very light make ups on. When I attend my husband’s company dinner, I wanted to look my best for him and I put full make up on and I sure felt great and more confidence meeting his colleges for the first time. We both had a wonderful evening at the event.
